Vikram launched his legal career in the chambers of his late father, the eminent Advocate Ch. Raghunath Chawla, who had built a robust tax law practice spanning direct and indirect taxation since as early as 1950. Benefiting tremendously from his father's seasoned wisdom and well-regarded reputation, Vikram gained invaluable firsthand exposure to the intricate complexities of tax law.
Armed with this formative training, Vikram founded his own highly-regarded practice in 1984, specializing in both direct and indirect tax matters - including ever-evolving areas such as service tax and VAT. His substantial expertise quickly earned him distinction as a preeminent tax lawyer within the region. Vikram remains dedicated to continuing learning, as evidenced by his regular contributions as a keynote speaker at high-profile tax seminars held statewide and nationwide.
Beyond building his flourishing practice, Vikram leveraged his profile and knowledge in 2003 to successfully initiate and lead the crusade against the premature and poorly-conceptualized introduction of VAT in Uttar Pradesh at that time. His effective advocacy underscored his understanding of tax policy impacts and cemented his reputation as an authoritative voice on complex tax issues.
